At Primrose Court we are dedicated in breeding and producing sound well conformed potential competition horses that will go on to excel in all spheres and that are forward thinking, active, athletic performers as well as much loved members of the family
Primrose Court Stud was established in 2004 by Anna Thompson and her partner Ali Pountain with the arrival of the imported Trakehner W/B stallion Highfield Vivaldi.
Our goal for the stud is to produce a small number of international quality foals each year that all have the potential to excel in any given Olympic discipline and that are also a pleasure to own and ride.We combine the best and most proven of both Australian and European bloodlines to breed top class performers with many of our foals carrying Trakehner breeding.The Trakehner has for many years now been used to enhance,lighten and improve most of the WB breeds we see today.As a breed they are fast becoming the choosen warmblood on the 21st centuary.
Our broodmare base is strong but ever expanding.We constantly strive each year to breed up from our original mare selection with the aim of injecting newer,more influential Internatioanl lines that will in turn produce better and better foals that could easily hold their own in European competition.This does take time but we feel is imperative if you are striving for the best which we are.
At present we stand two stallions at Primrose Court stud and have our newsest addition, the yearling Hanovarian colt 'Salzburg' waiting in the wings.

Anna's training-
Having worked and trained at the internationally renowned "Catherston Stud",home to the Dressage guru of her day Jennie Loriston-Clarke, Anna gained a new found love for Dressage and everything that goes with it. She was also given superb exposure to many of the UK Native pony breeds and it was from this that her strong passion for Sport Ponies,breeding and training them began.
Jennie Loriston-Clarke was (and still) is a huge ambassador for the Natives Breeds of England and the now more refined competitive British Sport Pony.The highly influential British Riding Pony stallion Catherston Nightsafe appears in the vast amount of German Riding pony lines we see today competing at the very top in Europe and the UK. This little pony had a huge influence on the sport.
Anna's own interest for horse husbandary also began at Catherston and she owes much of her experience and learnt knowledge from her time spent there.

We have been breeding and producing British Sport Ponies (German Riding Ponies) for many years in the UK prior to arriving in WA.We could see instantly that there was huge void here in Australia and so set about to try change this with our own small breeding program that would in time produce some very special ponies.
Our first "Australian Sport pony" to be born was Highfield O'Phellea and she was by Vivaldi out of the lovely arab mare O'Cecellea.O'Phellea gained extremly high marks at her foal classifying in 2006.Her mother has gone on to produce two more beautiful fillies PC Copellea and PC Opal,both sold to new homes, and we are awaiting a fourth foal for her later this season
